Decamethoxine is a quaternary ammonium compound and belongs to the group of cationic surfactants. Decamethoxine combines with phosphate groups of lipids in the cytoplasmic membrane of a microbial cell, which leads to a violation of its permeability and destruction.

Decamethoxin has a wide spectrum of antimicrobial activity.
